Laylow breaks the mold with “Dogz”!

2021 marked the spectacular return of one of the year’s most unexpected revelations. Following the success of “Trinity” in 2020, Laylow is back with the ambitious project “The Strange Story of Mr. Anderson”, in collaboration with the eminent Damso, Hamza, Alpha Wann, Wit, Nekfeu, Foushée, and Slowthai. This new project had a meteoric start, selling nearly 34,000 copies in the first week alone. Now recognized beyond insider circles, Laylow solidifies his place in the rap universe with this latest work. Highly anticipated, the artist from Toulouse delivers a bold and deconstructed track, characterized by a distinctly strange tonality.

Laylow breaks the mold with “Dogz”!

The instrumental composition of the track, crafted by Loubenski and Mingo, showcases the breadth of their artistry. Loubenski, a long-time collaborator of Nekfeu, has contributed to the arrangements of his last three albums: “Feu”, “Cyborg”, and “Les Étoiles Vagabondes”. Mingo, for his part, is a mainstay of Laylow’s creative team, having worked on standout tracks such as “Out in the Night”, “Stuntmen”, “Watching the World Burn”, and “Lost Forest”. The piece’s minimalist composition is based on a “beep” rhythm, highlighting the uniqueness and innovation of the track.

Laylow is brimming with energy on this title, delivering punchy punchlines in a decidedly unique style:

"While we talk over a glass, over a thieb with a check,
They're redoing the world, they're redoing rap, they're redoing your schnek, baby.
New punk, she shows her titties."

The visuals for the track were captured in a hangar transformed into a music studio by the talented Osman Mercan. The photography, dominated by gray and cold hues, offers a striking visual rendering. Osman Mercan has previously staged several visual projects for Laylow, including the clips for “Special”, “Megatron”, and “Maladresse”.
