Kaaris and JKSN are the Yaya!

In 2023, Kaaris made a comeback with the album Day One, featuring heavyweight guests like Koba LaD, SCH, Hamza, and Kerchak. While the reception was mixed, the project still racked up nearly 5,589 total sales across all formats. Two years later, in 2025, the rapper from Sevran returns to the spotlight with a new project: Z.E.R.O.

For years, a question has split Sevran’s rap scene: did Kaaris really “bring the light to Sevran”? While the debate rages on, one thing remains crystal clear — with Or Noir, crafted in collaboration with producer Therapy, he left an undeniable mark on French trap and drill music.

Artists like Ixzo may have hinted at this direction before, notably with the track Molly, but the general consensus credits Kaaris as the true trailblazer of the movement in France. Back then, his meteoric rise was also fueled by the backing of Booba, who featured on the iconic track Kalash. What began as a powerful alliance has since turned into one of the most bitter rivalries in French rap history.

With C’est nous les Yaya, his new collaboration with JKSN, Kaaris takes a more relaxed, melodic approach — a direction he first explored on Le bruit de mon âme, proving his ability to step beyond the aggressive sonic aesthetic that made him famous. That said, projects like SVR with Kalash Criminel continue to embrace a raw, hard-hitting, even deliberately “dirty” sound.

The track’s production is handled by rising producer Gancho, known for his work with SCH on cuts like Prequel, Garcimore, Niobé, and Beaux-Arts. He also produced Only You for Hamza, and more recently, GO for Rim’K and Kekra. His style? A subtle yet catchy piano melody paired with a tight rhythm — the perfect canvas for both rappers to unleash sharp, punchy bars.

“No need to come at us twice — we’ll slap your mom right in front of your boys.”

The video, dark and atmospheric, is produced by Thai RAW and directed by Klyde x Comm. It follows Kaaris and JKSN through a gritty, tension-filled setting, full of street deals and confrontations. Thai RAW also worked on recent visuals for Lynda and Imen Es. As for Klyde, he has previously collaborated with Grodash, while Da Vinci directed the cinematic video for Le poids des ombres by RZ.
