Jey Brownie stands out as a unique force in the French rap scene. In 2022, he made a major impact with his platinum-certified single GTB, produced by the maestro Flem. The track is pulled from the project Faits divers, co-created with Flem, a true sonic architect of French drill. Flem’s influence is so deep that Django dedicated an entire project to him: S/O Le Flem.
Two years later, in 2024, Jey Brownie took a bold turn with Mélodie Céleste, an introspective and melodic project that marks a complete shift in direction.
On this new release, he joins forces with a diverse cast — Lujipeka, Dinos, The Doug, and Zamdane — crafting a soundscape that blends emotion and atmosphere. It’s a full 180° from the dark intensity of Flem’s drill to the ethereal vibe of Mélodie Céleste. The rapper illustrates this evolution with the single Mada, a track that walks a fine line between melody and rap.
Jey Brownie drops a powerful visual for Mada
The beat was crafted by Arah and Focus Beatz. The latter, known for his work with Ziak (especially on the Manuel de Vengeance project), has built a solid reputation. His credits also include standout tracks for Zed from 13Block like Performances véritables, San à 3K, and the Brother Mouzone Freestyle by Dinos.
With Mada, Jey Brownie delivers a highly emotional, almost dreamlike track. Floating between gritty rap and melodic flights, he moves in a suspended space — somewhere between dream and reality. A soft piano loop, ambient echoes, and a powerful rhythm form the backdrop for a flow that seamlessly switches between singing and rapping.
“No one lent me a hand when I was Nada, now I’m bresom like a guy from Mada.”
The video, directed by O.G Prod, shows Jey Brownie surrounded by friends, cruising near the gamos or walking through the city. With carefully crafted visual effects, O.G Prod proves once again he’s one of the rising names in the new wave of French rap visuals.
