Iliana takes a stand against stereotypes with “Laisse Tomber” !

A modern woman and a true product of her time,
Iliana takes aim at a recurring trope in French rap. Since its early days, the genre has often leaned on the stereotype of “gold-digging women”, with iconic tracks like “Elle donne son corps avant son nom” by IAM, “Starfuckeuse” by Rohff, and “Pourvu qu’elle m’aime” by Booba. With her new single “Laisse Tomber”, the singer flips the script, boldly asserting her emotional and financial independence.

Continuing her artistic journey,
Iliana delivers a powerful and rhythmic track, tailor-made for both the stage and summer playlists. After “Ta route”, released two months ago, followed by “Toujours toi”, she now unveils her third confident single: “Laisse Tomber”.

The track’s instrumental is produced by Bankai, who previously worked on “Laisse Tomber” for GLK and TK, and also contributed to “Tenue de Motard 5” by Djadja & Dinaz. The beat is both punchy and danceable—an ideal backdrop for Iliana’s confident delivery and perfect for the summer vibe.

In her lyrics,
Iliana speaks directly to “men” who believe everything—including love—can be bought:

“You won’t buy my heart with a pile of Louis Vuitton
I’ve cooled off the feelings I used to have
Just to keep from covering them up with bandages”

“The only thing your heart beats for is your RS
I checked your Insta—I saw right through you
If your life’s unstable, don’t drag me into your mess
You won’t impress me with your sweet talk”

The video, minimalist yet impactful, is directed by Kespey. He had previously collaborated with Iliana on “Ta route”, and also worked on visuals for “La Douille #9” by Fresh La Douille and “8426City” by ISK and Saïf. A fitting visual counterpart to the message Iliana delivers with strength and clarity.
