In 2025, GLK made a strong comeback with a string of hard-hitting singles. He notably released “Millionnaire”, “Ça va”, and “Pure”. His previous full-length project dated back to 2021 with the album “Karma”, which featured major collaborations with Imen ES, Koba LaD, Kaza, Nahit, and Waïv.
The artist traveled to his homeland, Algeria, to shoot the video for “Mehlich”. Set against a sun-drenched backdrop, GLK delivers a magnetic track infused with subtle and hypnotic North African influences.
GLK unveils “Mehlich”: a musical journey blending roots and modernity
The track’s production is helmed by the seasoned beatmaker duo Nass Brans and Naofel. Nass Brans previously made waves by producing the hit “Casanova” for Soolking and Gazo. He’s also known for key tracks within the African Jungle universe, including “On ira”, “Marbella”, and “Billie Holliday”.
The instrumental is built around a delicate sample of the nafir — a traditional Maghrebi trumpet — layered with rhythmic tambourines. GLK adds a touch of autotune, a departure from his usual style, embracing a raw yet melodic atmosphere. The music video places him in the heart of a working-class Algerian neighborhood, reinforcing the project’s authentic tone.
On the lyrical side, the track dives deep into bold egotrip territory:
“Les ingrats crachent dans la purée
Maintenant qu’ils ont goûté un peu d’caviar
Quatre chargeurs scotchés, deux guitares
Tu peux appeler tous tes gaillards”
The video, shot across the stunning landscapes of Algeria, was directed by Nono. No stranger to standout visuals, he previously helmed “Jamais Yensak” featuring Lyna Mahyem and Numidia Lezoul, as well as “Parcours” by Sensey. A warm, luminous direction that perfectly complements GLK’s bold return.
