DAU has seen it “100 times” before!

DAU, signed to the prestigious label Keep an Eye Record under Sony Music license, continues to push the boundaries of his creativity. In 2024, he unveiled his ambitious project “Sans état d’âme”, marking the beginning of a true artistic revolution. A few months ago, he captivated audiences with the track “AVLV” (“Ainsi va la vie”), a piece that reinterprets the opening notes of an instrumental composition by Tarek Azzouz, a musical giant known for his collaborations with DJ Khaled and numerous American icons. With this track, DAU establishes a distinct tone, delivering refined visuals and a mastery of words and melodies that have become his signature.

This time, he returns with “100 fois”, a track from his project “Amazing”. This piece subtly and skillfully parodies romantic relationships, showcasing a style that DAU handles with remarkable ease.

DAU has seen it “100 times” before!

The instrumental composition of “100 fois” is crafted by Itam, a renowned beatmaker celebrated for his collaborations with artists like Hugo TSR (“Les vieux de mon âge”), Davodka (“À découvert”), and Nefaste. Itam has established himself as a key figure in this new wave of artists reviving a rap style iconic to the late ’90s. The track, adorned with light drum percussions and enriched with a piano sample, provides the perfect soundscape for DAU to seamlessly alternate between singing and rapping.

With his sharp pen, the artist delivers poignant poetic lines:

“My reflection in the mirror no longer wants to resemble me”

“I didn’t wait for you, so you think I’m in someone else’s arms”

He explores the mechanisms of romantic relationships, which eventually become routine:

“I’m far from your eyes but so close to your body”

A visual metaphor for modern relationships

The music video, directed by Exitvoid, draws inspiration from the cult film “Enter the Void” by Gaspar Noé, a reference the director also acknowledges on his Instagram account. In this clip, DAU transforms into an automaton, moving from Geneva airport to a series of romantic encounters with interchangeable women. This visual narrative powerfully evokes the commercialization of romantic relationships, further amplified by the rise of dating apps like Tinder.

Exitvoid, a renowned Swiss director, reaffirms his talent for blending aesthetics and storytelling. He had already made a mark with his work on the latest advertising campaign for InkCloth, a project that also left a lasting impression.
