Häktet Stockholm : Right or Left Door ? At the end of Mariatorget, not too far from Hornstull, you’ll find a bar with two dimensions, a passage through time. Upon entering, a bouncer will signal you to come in or go out. Then, in the hallway leading to a courtyard that’s open in the summer, you’ll have to choose between right and left.
To the right, you’ll find a rather exceptional restaurant. Häktet is a place to know if you’re into fooding. It might be the ideal spot for a weekday dinner date. The menu, which changes from time to time, is quite enticing, and the service is impeccable. Beautiful wine bottles will accompany your emotions. On the weekend, this peaceful restaurant transforms into a sort of club, Swedish-style, of course. So, it gets crowded, the music is pleasant, and the crowd is open and classy. Häktet is a restaurant during the week and a kind of bar/club on weekends. Oh yes, if you go beyond the restaurant, there’s another bar at the back of the room. It’s also good, but by constantly beating the well-trodden path, you might completely miss what’s happening in the main room.
To the left, it’s what we call among the regulars ‘the secret bar.’ There’s a doorbell at the entrance. It’s quite random, though, so don’t take it personally if they don’t open for you. It could be a capacity issue or maybe the server just really doesn’t like your face. In either case, it’s forgivable. The staff alternates between Häktet and the ‘Secret Bar.’ Inside, the atmosphere is top-notch. But on weekdays, the bar, open until 3 in the morning, gets packed until 2:30. The crowd on weekdays is rather friendly, even if everyone keeps to their place.
As for the rest, the cocktails are fabulous. And for a few days or weeks now, the hosts have been offering some fun alcohol-related games. The bar is creative.
It’s the perfect place to go out on weekdays or on the weekend if a more special evening isn’t happening in a club.
