The album *Blackbird* is set to drop on October 4, and B.B. Jacques has just unveiled a new teaser, the 11th track of the project titled *Bitch & Ryads*. In 2024, the Belgian rapper, who gained widespread attention through the show *Nouvelle École*, will release the EP *Honeymoon*. But before that, in 2023, he already made waves with the release of *New Blues, Old Wine*, a project crowned by two exceptional collaborations: a gem with Oxmo Puccino on *Pétales* and a stellar performance with Sofiane Pamart on *Zandvoort Palace*.
B.B. Jacques reveals the first teaser of *Blackbird*!
The instrumental production of this powerful track was crafted by BBP. Behind this alias is Robin Waiss, a prominent beatmaker from the *QLF* collective. He’s collaborated multiple times with the *Deux Frères*. Lately, he’s continued to cement his place in the French rap scene, having produced for SDM on *Merci* and for SCH on the track *Cannelloni*. This isn’t his first collaboration with B.B. Jacques, as they previously worked together on *Horizon 25 & Béni*. The production of *Bitch & Ryads* is both raw and captivating, enhanced by a lunar sample that feels like it’s straight out of a 16-bit video game. The beat is simply stunning.
On this track, B.B. Jacques pulls no punches, dropping razor-sharp lines: *”Around here, we get by / We never say ‘help’ (Never), heart in ruins like Aleppo (Eh) / Dodge the bitches and the cops (Let’s go), of course, I lack kindness (Eh)”*. True to form, he weaves a narrative element into his bars, with striking lines from the very beginning: *”Bitch, I made you live a dream… Cques-J, I wake up, you’re gone (Ouh), did you see my scars (Ouh)? I lit up the Nepalese, you deserved the 9.3, not Bali (Ciao).”*
The music video, though the director isn’t credited on Instagram, is a large-scale spectacle reminiscent of *Need for Speed*. We see B.B. Jacques execute a spectacular crash in the middle of a street race, delivering visuals that are as gripping as the song itself and definitely worth watching.
